ABOUT Silken Shampoo

Silken Shampoo looks like the picture on the left - when it is made.

Due to the fact that it contains no chemicals to prolong this, it will separate once it is left to sit in the bottle.

Each time you GENTLY shake it to combine the ingredients, the shampoo will be thinner as the natural "bubbles" are exhausted.

When you decide to use the all natural Silken Shampoo, it is important that you know a few things.

This shampoo is not going to be like the commercially marketed shampoos you have used in the past -
Being that Silken Shampoo is made with natural ingredients, and contains no "thickening agent" (which would leave a coating on your hair and create a build-up on your scalp), it will be much thinner than the shampoos you are used to.
When you are ready to use Silken Shampoo, follow the directions - Beginning with the fact that you will need to gently shake this shampoo prior to each use. It is not necessary (and, in fact, is a very bad idea) to shake Silken vigorously. A few gentle shakes and you will feel it begin to thicken just a little. Be ready though, for even though it has thickened a bit, it is still going to come out of the bottle very quickly, and much thinner than you may expect. Cup your hand and squeeze the bottle ever-so-slightly, and you should get just a little bit to work with.
It's a good idea to put just a very small amount (perhaps a teaspoonful) into the palm of your hand, and rub it between your hands a little, before applying it to your hair. Once this is done, you may need (or want) to repeat this process a couple more times - especially if you have really long hair, like I do - to get a good amount of shampoo to nourish your hair.
You will experience what I am calling a "soft lather" as you massage Silken through your tresses.

Once "lathered", allow Silken Shampoo to rest on your hair for a minute or so - This will give your follicles and scalp the time they need to absorb the nourishing ingredients of Silken.
Before rinsing, add a small amount of water to your hair and give one last massage.
Rinsing Silken is different than any other shampoo - It is important that you rinse Silken THOROUGHLY and GENTLY. After all, you are choosing to use all natural Silken Shampoo because you care about your hair - be gentle as you rinse  :^)
And, if you do not rinse thoroughly, you might experience hair that feels "oily" hair when it dries, because your hair will only absorb the nutrients it needs, in the amounts it needs, and will leave the rest to sit atop.
If you do happen to experience this "oily" feel, simply rinse your hair again, GENTLY, and all should be taken care of  :^)
Most of my Testers, and I, prefer to let our locks dry naturally, and this is my recommendation.
I did have a couple Testers who used a blow dryer and reported no problems. Do remember that blow drying can be damaging to your hair.

If you follow these simple directions, you will enjoy soft, silky, smooth hair  - just as nature intended!

My 4 ounce bottle of Silken Shampoo lasts me over a month!  I wash my waist-length hair about every 4 days, using about 3-4 teaspoons at each use.
My Testers (some use more than I do, some less) report that a 4 ounce bottle will last them from 7-12 washes.
